Shaped Cards is the current challenge over at Cardz 4 Galz. I am a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids and making cards for the kids is my passion. So I made this shaped card for the NICU at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. You don’t think the birth of a baby would be a sad time but for some of these parents it is — just like Jimmy Kimmel shared the other night. So making happy colorful and joyous newborn cards for the NICU to give to these parents brings joy to my heart.
The onesie dies are no longer available but I use them alot (Top Dog Dies). The papers are from American Crafts and the cardstock is from Stamps of Life.
Always Fun Challenges weekly challange has an Easter theme this week. Craftaholics R Us monthly challenge is also Easter. I made this card a few weeks back and included it in the shipment with all the wonderful cards I received from our faithful cardmakers at SAS4KIDS.
I created the background using pan pastels (love love love them). Paper, card stock and ribbons from Stamps of Life and the stamps and dies are from Verve Stamps! I adore those little carrots.
Challenge over at SAS4KIDS is calling for cards for mom that would be coming from the child. Between the two hospitals that I ship for there are about 210 kids, and our faithful card makers never let us down. I had this peel off sticker purse (Elizabeth Crafts), that I had already colored using SAKURA glaze and glitter pens. The sentiment is from Just Rite stamps and the papers are from Stamps of Life.
The current challenge over at SAS4KIDS is calling 4 Girl Cards. I chose to use a digi from one of the sponsors of the challenge Paper Nest Dolls. I loved the bunny slippers on this “Princess and the Pea” image. The papers I used are from Recollections which I have had forever, the sentiment and ribbon are from Stamps of Life. I colored her in Copics and Wink of Stella Glitter Markers (the pea and the tierra). The dies are Card Creator Spellbinders. I don’t like to use any embellishments that can cause a choking hazard to the kids so I often will use Dazzles on my cards to add a little bling.
This card will be going to SAS4KIDS (I am a volunteer shipper — shipping to St. Christopher’s Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA).
The current challenge at Cards In Envy is Pink and Gray. A Gray bear you ask? Why not? I colored the bear with Copics and all products used are from Stamps of Life. The glitter paper is from DCWV. The challenge at SAS4KIDS is anything goes. I linked the card to their challenge as well.
This completes my first year as a shipper for SAS4KIDS. Here is one of the cards I created and snail mailed to thank the dedicated card makers who chose me to send their beautiful cards to. I so appreciate their dedication and hard work and the relationships I have made this last year. SAS4KIDS is not just about making cards it is about heart, kindness, appreciation, sharing and love.
The mitten die cut and sentiment is from Stamps of Life. Papers are from my stash.
Words 2 Craft By was created by ladies that were involved in Operation Write Home of which I was a big part of for five years. When Operation Write Home came to an end (troops came home — yea!) many of us didn’t know where to turn. A few of us found other ways to donate cards, I myself became involved in Send A Smile 4 Kids.
Winning last months challenge over at Words 2 Craft By wasn’t much to write home about. There were only four entries. I guess you could say I won by default. BUT because I “won” I was asked to be a Guest I-Teamer this month.
Based on this month’s quote here is my card:
All supplies used are from the Stamps of Life except for the additional leaves I added (punch). Little Pilgrim was colored with Copics.
I encourage you to check out Words 2 Craft By blog and create something using this month’s quote which can be found here.
The challenge over at Cards In Envy (CIE) is “Hip To Be Square” (if any of you are old enough, can you remember Huey Lewis and the News?).
My rose garden is blooming with the last roses and some of them are yellow. My marigolds, which only come in two colors gold and yellow, are just in their glorious stages right now. It is amazing when you plant one marigold plant in the spring and watch it for a few weeks, it looks as though it might not make it; but, as the air heats up and the afternoon rains come they grow into the most magnificent flowers. They will be rendering full colorful plants right up until Thanksgiving. Why am I rambling on about this? YELLOW. My take on the “Hip To Be Square” challenge:
I embossed the square into my cardstock using two dies together (stitched square stacks from MFT), then stamped my image (GinaK Designs Year of Flowers 2) onto a separate square, colored with copics Y02 Y06 Y08 G21 and G24. The Happy Birthday greeting is from Your Next Stamp and ribbon from Stamps of Life. Mounted it on black cardstock. Added a few black dots (to coordinate with ribbon) and called it a day.
It’s time for another challenge over at Cards In Envy. This month the theme is “things with wings”. So I chose the obvious. Butterflies. I have been gravitating toward turquoise lately and I saw a version of this card on pinterest. I liked the abstract design of it.
Frame is die cut using SSS. Butterflies are from various sets. Sentiment is from Stamps of Life. Berrylicious cardstock from MFT. Pearls from Hero Arts. Card will be going to SAS4KIDS.
I would also like to promote and enter this weeks challenge at Cards 4 Galz which is monochromatic.
